Higinio and Rosa have been married for only a few months when the Spanish Civil War breaks out, putting his life in grave danger. With his wife’s help, he decides to use a hole dug inside their home as a temporary hiding place. Fear of retaliation, coupled with the deep love they share, condemns them to a confinement that will last more than 30 years.
